16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees

The nominations continue today with the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, an award that is almost of equal importance of an Oscar.

A little history for the unfamiliar, the SAG awards is one the industry’s most prized honors awarding ONLY ACTORS. Registered screen actors in the guild nominate their peers for both theatrical motion picture and television awards. But because this is a movie site, we are only going to focus on the theatrical nominations.

And the nominees are:

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglorious Basterds
Nine
Precious: Based on the novel PUSH by Sapphire
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
George Clooney, Up in The Air
Colin Firth, A Single Man
Morgan Freeman, Invictus
Jeremy Remner, The Hurt Locker
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Helen Mirren, The Last Station
Carey Mulligan, An Education
Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Matt Damon, Invictus
Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
Christopher Plummer, The Last Station
Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz, Inglorious Basterds
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Penelope Cruz, Nine
Vera Farmiga, Up in The Air
Anna Kendrick, Up in The Air
Diane Kruger, Inglorious Basterds
Mo’Nique, Precious
A pretty great nominee list, it’s nice to see Jeremy Remner on the Best Actor list and I would have loved to see Melanie Laurent on the Supporting Role list. But other than that….the following list of actors could very well be your Oscar nominees, only time will tell.
