Nominee spotlight: Stanley Tucci

Birthdate: November 11, 1960

Birthplace: Peekskill, New York

Big Screen Debut: Prizzi’s Honor (1985)

Oscar stats: First time nominee

In my opinion, Stanley Tucci is one of the best character actors working today. He doesn’t need to be the leading man to shine,  and his ability to transform into any character given to him has earned him a much deserved Oscar nomination. Although this awards season has been all about Christoph Waltz’s performance in ‘Inglourious Basterds,’ there is no question that Tucci’s haunting portrayal in ‘The Lovely Bones’ is also one of the year’s best.
