I See You….Again.

As if 2 bazillion dollars wasn’t enough at the box office, Fox gears up to re-release “Avatar” in the summer, this according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The re-release will be mainly on 3D screens and the reason…Fox is greedy and doesn’t know when to let go. Kind of like an old boyfriend. Actually the real reason is this:

The impetus for a rerelease is the feeling that, even though “Avatar” is the highest-grossing movie of all time, producers could have raked in even more money had they been able to hold on to the digital and Imax 3D screens that were lost when Disney opened “Alice in Wonderland” in 3D on March 5.

The re-release will feature extra footage not seen in theaters, a concept that sounds strangely like a Blu-Ray/DVD release. But the latter will happen after the unnecessary re-release, in 2D home video form no later than May, followed by a 3D Blu-Ray release in the fall.

I don’t get this. At all. Who would want to pay $16.00 to see a movie that they’ve already seen, with 10 minutes of extra footage. Yes, 10 minutes! At least at the IMAX, which enforces a maximum time limit of 170 minutes, “Avatar’s” original release clocks in at 160 minutes.

In my opinion, this isn’t a good idea, it’s overkill. But what do I know, I don’t run a major motion picture studio.

Would love to hear your thoughts, sound off down below.

The studio knows that people won’t want to wait until May, which isn’t that far in the future to see the extra 10 minutes and they want to see it in 3D. I would have been at the
theatre so fast if they would have re-released Dark Knight with extra footage, I love that movie, lol
It’s all about money and a cleaver way to get more and they will. What can you do? = )

Now, studios, hurry up with that DaVinci movie starring Nic Cage, hahahaha JK.

    Have a great Friday!

    • Hahaha. Good one.

And I agree with you about the Dark Knight, I love the Batman series (even the horrible ones) and TDK kept you on your toes, and I would definitely go see extra footage of that.

I also forgot to add in this piece, I’ll probably do it later on today, they are talking a Titanic re-release in 3D. Now THAT…I’d go see. lol.
