Announced: Scream 4 and possibly 5, is a go.

I’m pretty sure I posted briefly about this a while back in an edition of “Reel News” , but now I have confirmation that Scream 4 has been given the green light and a script is being written as I type, and it will coincide with a script for a fifth film.

Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox-Arquette have all signed on to reprise their famous roles and Wes Craven will direct.  The film will take place 10 years later in Woodsboro and new cast members will be introduced. Production begins in Spring 2010–so like tomorrow–and the film is already slated to release on April 12th 2011.

According to Slash Film, writer Kevin Williamson says that Scream 4 will reference “magna comics, Asian ghost girl movies, PG-13 horror movies and even torture porn.” That’s…interesting.  Personally, I’m excited. And I know I’m anti-remake/reboot but it could be Scream 20 and I would still be excited. It’s just one of those films that never gets old to me.

But as always, would love to know your thoughts on this.  Good idea or waste of time, money and talent?

I really liked the first Scream. It was the first film in years that I actually talked to the screen while watching it, lol And Skeet Ulrich wasn’t bad to look at. = )

The second one was ok, not as good as the first in my opinion.

I didn’t see the third one, I don’t think I knew there was a third one, where have I been?

All I can say it I have to wait and see. I hope it’s good, it’s Wes Craven so I have high hopes.

PS: Studios, please stop making SAW movies, LOL
