Weekend Box Office: April 2-4, 2010

Happy Monday moviegoers!!

I hope this post finds everyone in good spirits after a great Easter  weekend. Lots of updates will hit the blog this week, as well as an introduction to a new addition on The Real Reel (more on that later today).

But anyway, it was a great weekend at the movies and a “Clash of the Titans” in every sense of the word. Here’s how the weekend fared:

1. Clash of the Titans

2. Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?

3. How to Train Your Dragon

4.The Last Song

5.Alice in Wonderland

6. Hot Tub Time Machine

7.The Bounty Hunter

8. Diary of a Wimpy Kid

9. She’s Out of My League

10. Shutter Island

Easter movie goers made their choice, and they all decided on “Clash of the Titans” with an astounding $61.4M at the box office. However, Tyler Perry’s newest film “Why Did I Get Married Too?” ended the weekend with a commendable $30.1M; opening on less screens and a day later than “Titans.”

Miley Cyrus’s “The Last Song” which made out decently with a Wednesday opening, was no match for “How to Train Your Dragon” which claimed the third slot with a $29.2M weekend.  “Alice in Wonderland” rounded out the top five with $8.27M and “Shutter Island” saw its last run on the top 10 with $1.46M.

Out this week: “Date Night”, “Letters to God” , “The Runaways” (wide release) and “Squares” (limited release).
