Zoe Saldana talks “Star Trek” & “Avatar” sequels

Still from Saldana's upcoming flick, "The Losers"

MTV news caught up with Zoe Saldana at Wonder Con this weekend while she was busy promoting her latest film “The Losers”. The now larger than life actress was asked about her plans for the “Star Trek” and “Avatar” sequels and here are a few snippets of what she had to say.

When asked which sequel audiences were most likely to see first:

“I think ‘Star Trek,'” she replied. “Because that one’s already going into pre-production soon….” She paused. “From what I hear,” she corrected, playfully drawing out each word. “Unless J.J., who’s always full of surprises….”

Both sequels are highly anticipated but as far as I know nothing yet is for certain. Pre-production can take anywhere from a few months to a few years, so I think it’s safe to say that we can rule 2011 out.

As for how she felt about returning to both franchises:

“The fact that I’m going to be able to get to play Uhura again and the fact that I’m going to be able to be Neytiri is wonderful because I haven’t been able to part with them,” she explained. That’s not all though. “And the fact that I’m going to be employed for a year and a half makes me feel really good because that means the rent is covered.”

How cute,  she was in the highest grossing film of all time and stilled worried about her rent.

Personally I’m more excited to see Star Trek and I can’t wait to see what J.J. Abrams does with the sequel.

“The Losers” hit theaters on April 23 but you can catch Zoe a week earlier (April 16)  in “Death at a Funeral”, which stars Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence.
