Reel News Blurb: Sigourney Weaver keeps it real.

It’s been over a month since the Oscars but clearly some people still haven’t got over ‘Avatar’s’ lose fest, one in particular being Sigourney Weaver.

According to Guardian, Weaver claimed that the only reason James Cameron didn’t win for ‘Avatar’ is because he “didn’t have breasts.” During an interview with a Brazilian news site, Weaver mentioned that the Academy was too gung-ho about crowing the first female best director, and  suggested that James Cameron lost because of sexism.

“Jim didn’t have breasts, and I think that was the reason,” Weaver told Folha Online. “He should have taken home that Oscar,” she said.

Interesting,  considering a dig against the Academy would also be a dig against the Directors Guild, the  BAFTAs and the Broadcast Critics Association, all of whom awarded Kathryn Bigelow with the best director honor.

But the month old pity party didn’t end there, Weaver went on to say that ‘Avatar’ should have taken home the Best Picture prize, suggesting that ‘The Hurt Locker’ only won because of the Academy’s need to validate lower budget/lesser viewed  films.

“Today it’s fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw,” Weaver said.

Damn Sigourney! Tell us how you really feel, don’t hold back. Whatever happened to girl power?!

WoW, can you say sore looser?

I still think Precious should have had the best picture award.

    • A very sore loser! lol. And I agree, I would have loved for Precious or Inglourious Basterds to take home the top prize. And Kathryn Bigelow was beyond deserving of the best director honor. But I guess defeat is hard to swallow after you’ve spent a gazillion dollars on one film. lol.

  2. Who cares if she pouts. She’s still one of the most beautiful women in the world.
