Portman and Pitt rom-com finally lands a writer.

Paramount Pictures acquired the screen rights to ‘Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry’ over a year ago, and hopefully in that time they’ve also shortened the title. I mean really, the trailer is in the title.

Anyway—with the news of the acquisition also came the announcement that both Natalie Portman and Brad Pitt would star in the film, and their respective production companies would produce. And that was the big news….until now.

Today Paramount announced that Greg Mottola, director of ‘Superbad’ and writer/director of ‘Adventureland’, would adapt the story which is told through–wait for it–important artifacts. No word yet on if Mottola would also direct the film, but he would definitely be the obvious choice.  ‘Adventureland’ was one of my favorites films of last year, so I’m all for Mottola taking the reigns on this project.
