Fox confirms ‘Commando’ remake

Let’s all take a deep breath, exhale and say the following all together:   What. the. hell?

Is there some type of competition going on in Hollywood that we don’t know about?   $10 million dollars and the rights to Avatar, Titanic and Avatar 2 for whomever can come up with the worst idea for a remake ever.  Because honestly at this point, that would be the only way to explain what’s going on in the minds of these studios.

This trend has gotten so bad that I’ve passed the point where I ask who came up with this awful idea. Now the question is,  who the heck moved for the motion to green light?  All the blame will placed on them when this undoubtedly fails.

Now that my mini-rant is over—

The new ‘Commando’ will be written and directed by David Ayer, and produced by Erwin Stoff and John Davis. And although the details are minor, according to Deadline, Ayers is looking to give the film a ‘real world spin.’   Meaning that this film will still be a bad idea, only in 3D with a possible cameo from both the Governor of California and Alyssa Milano.

The silver lining of all of this? David Ayer.   With writing credits that include Harsh Times,  Training Day and the original Fast and the Furious, he’s probably  one of the best guys for the job. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt, but seriously H-Wood….it’s time to reevaluate what you guys are doing with life. There are too many fresh ideas out there that could easily put an end to remaking every movie ever made!

I’m not going to see this movie. I watched the original a few months back and it has a charm that only Arnold, Alyssa and the rest of the cast could give it at the time.

The only movie listed here that David Ayer has done that I liked was Training Day.

    I dooooooon’t know….. = )
