Alphabet Review: (J)ust One of the Guys

This film is a year older than me, but I have great childhood memories of this film. How else would I know that you could create the illusion of a male part with the simple act of putting a sock down there?  Not saying I ever did that but—

‘Just One of the Guys’ is a classic 80s teen comedy about Terry, a teenage journalist who goes the extra mile to prove a point. After being scorned by her editor over an article involving a woman posing as a jock, Terry sets out to validate her idea by posing as a male and attending a neighboring high school. However trouble begins when she falls for her new best friend, who just so happens to think she’s a boy.

‘Just One of the Guys’ personifies the 80s. From the clothes, the hair and all the way down to the music, there’s so much to love about this film.  I watched it for the first time in years the other day, and found myself falling in love with it all over again.

One of the best parts of ‘Just One of the Guys’ was Buddy, the stereotypical, annoying, virginal,  sex-crazed younger brother of Terry.  Seriously, almost every 80s comedy utilized this character type and it serves its purpose in every single film.  He’s funny, raunchy and a nuisance, but by the end of the film you’re rooting for him to finally lose his virginity.

If you have a soft spot for cheesy 80s movies, then this one is right up your alley.
