Casting Roundup: May 28, 2010

Welcome to the ‘Casting Roundup’, another new addition to The Real Reel!  Almost daily I post casting updates, some confirmed and some rumored, and never really find the time to follow-up on them.  Well those days are gone!

From now on— every weekend I will post a casting roundup, which will confirm or reiterate a casting rumor/ announcement from the previous week.  Hopefully it will help you the readers , and myself, keep up with all of the casting news that’s posted on a daily basis

  • Ashley Greene is OUT and Emma Roberts is IN for Scream 4, at least that’s the rumor around Tinseltown. CONFIRMED— Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin. [FearNet]
  • Jean Claude Van Damme will join Gary Oldman in Kung Fu Panda 2. Not sure where that guy has been the past…decade…but its good to see him [or his voice] gracing the big screen. [Total Film]
  • Jamie Bell joins the shortlist of Spiderman Reboot hopefuls.  Name not ringing a bell? You may know his face from ‘Jumper’ and ‘Defiance.[Total Film]
  • Megan Fox’s replacement is a Victoria’s Secret Model! Her name is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and ‘Transformers 3’ will be her debut performance. I’m sure she’ll do great considering she really doesn’t have too big of shoes to fill in the acting department.[MTV]
  • Reese Witherspoon may be starring in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Scientology flick.  Jeremy Renner is already on board, but for some reason no one cared to ask Tom Cruise if he wanted to be apart of it.  [Total Film]
  • Speaking of Jeremy Renner, is he or isn’t he starring in ‘The Avengers’ as Hawkeye?  That rumor is back on the table, so I’ll keep an eye out for it. [Examiner]

That is quite the photoshop job they did on Emma Roberts. Isn’t she a kid?

Personally, I’m kind of worried about the casting of Scream 4. We’ll see = )

LoL I wonder if Tom Cruise would have said yes?

    • Haha. Probably not, I think the film is actually bashing Scientology. I think. Don’t quote me on that. Haha.

And I agree about the Scream 4 casting; might as well cast Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber in while there at it. Seems like they are trying to cater to a younger audience, an audience who has no idea how EPIC the Scream franchise was back in its heyday.
