A few days ago reports hit the web that David O. Russel had left his directing post for the forthcoming, ‘Pride & Prejudice & Zombies’ adaption.   The reason? Scheduling conflicts and his decision to go work on a ‘dramedy’ with Vince Vaughn.

Now, days later, Natalie Portman has dropped out of the production as well and this highly anticipated film finds itself back a square one.  Portman, who was supposed to star in the film, will still stay on as producer along with Lionsgate Films.

Her reason for ditching the project is currently unknown, but one would have to think that the girl just needs a break. In the past year, Portman has filmed a total of five films which are all scheduled to be released next year; not to mention she is also receiving lots of awards season buzz for her role in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Black Swan’.

No word yet on what will happen to the project, but here’s to waiting….
