Darren Aronofsky to direct ‘Wolverine 2’

…and that’s official word coming from the mouth of Wolverine himself!

During an interview with Vulture, Hugh Jackman put an end to all the rumors and confirmed that Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream) will indeed step behind the camera for ‘Wolverine 2.’  Jackman who is no stranger to Aronofsky’s interesting and dark direction, the two worked previously worked together on ‘The Fountain’, had this to say about the upcoming film:

This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark. But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.

With his latest effort ‘Black Swan’ already picking up awards buzz, Aronofsky will have a busy season ahead of him, therefore production on ‘Wolverine 2’ is expected to begin in March. Filming will take place in New York City and Japan.
