CG depiction of Gollum created by Weta Digital...

Looks like the whole gang is back together!!  The big news of the day is that Andy Serkis has  signed on to reprise his role as Gollum in The Hobbit.  It was also announced over the weekend that Elijah Wood will be appearing in the film as well.  As for Sir Ian McKellen, he’s likely to appear but is still working out a deal. A big congrats to the 2011 BAFTA Rising Star nominees Gemma Arterton, Andrew Garfield, Tom Hardy, Aaron Johnson and Emma Stone! This award, given to up and coming talent, is the only award given by the British Film Academy that is voted on by the general public.  For those who care, my vote is going to the always adorable Andrew Garfield! [BAFTA]

Indie films are the new black, or at least something to that effect! David Duchovny, Vera Farmiga, Keri Russell, Will Arnet, Minnie Driver  have all signed on for  Goats, an indie comedy which will mark the directorial debut of Christopher Neil.  Modern Family’s Ty Burrel is also set to star.  Talk about an indie flick with some star power! [Collider]

The Social Network is on a roll! The film has picked up yet another honor in the form of the National Society of Film Critics Best Picture prize.  The David Fincher flick was also rewarded with Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor for Jesse Eisenberg. If you haven’t seen the best reviewed film of 2010 yet, it’s out on DVD tomorrow! [MTV]

The WTF Award of the day goes to Baz Luhrmann possibly remaking The Great Gatsby in 3-D. Really, Baz? You follow-up the incredible announcement that Carey Mulligan will portray the iconic Daisy Buchanan with news that she’ll be shot in 3D? Really? Just…do better. [/Film]

Video of the Day:

Jim Carrey doing a hilarious Black Swan parody! How can you not love this guy?!
