Amy Adams is Lois Lane

At the top of the weekend, rumors swirled of Amy Adams possibly signing on to do Rock of Ages; by Sunday that rumor was presumably squashed when it was announced that the three time Academy Award nominee had claimed the coveted role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel reboot.

Adams, who seemingly was just tossed into the mix, beat out shortlisted actresses such as Jessica Biel, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, Olivia Wilde (considered to be a strong contender) and Mila Kunis.  Upon news of the casting, director Zack Snyder said the following:

“For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

Personally, Adams is not who I would have picked for the role but her three Oscar nominations speak volumes of her talent. When she’s good, she’s really good.  So far I’m not sold on  Snyder’s Superman especially after the box office performance of Sucker Punch this weekend, however, with Christopher Nolan attached as producer it will be really difficult to mess this up.

  1. i’m actually not mad at this. i think amy is hit or miss. i don’t love her in everything, but i think this is right up her alley. although i would have loved to have seen rashida jones or paula patton thrown in the mix, but hey what can you do?
