Michelle Williams offered role of good witch in ‘Oz: The Great & Powerful’

Looks like Sam Raimi has assembled himself a stellar cast for Oz: The Great & Powerful.

Here’s a brief refresher— first Robert Downey Jr. was attached as OZ but dropped out, though according to his publicist he was never involved to begin with. Then James Franco (pre- Oscar faux paux) signed on to “save the day.”  Next, fresh off of her career boosting performance in Black Swan, Mila Kunis joined the mix as the Wicked Witch of the West, followed by Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz as the Wicked Witch of the East.

If you’re keeping count, then you’d know that there was one more pertinent role left to fill —Glinda the Good Witch.  The coveted role was reportedly being shopped around Blake Lively’s way but today Variety reports that it has been offered to two-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams.  Talk about your curve bull.  Personally, she wouldn’t have been on my short list but Williams has proved time and time again that  she has what it takes to pull off any role.

If Williams accepts the role, she’ll head to Michigan in July when productions begins.  Production on Oz: The Great & Powerful is scheduled to run from July-December.
